Our Someone 2 Know, Jennifer Delaney, is a native Nevadan. She graduated UNR with degrees in biology, chemistry and public health - and now works as a quality insurance manager at WETLAB in Sparks.

She says she's committed to helping not just her own three daughters - but all children in our community - learn about the importance of science.

At work - and off the job - Jennifer Delaney is enthusiastic about having a positive impact in northern Nevada. "Staying passionate within my community, I mean I love being involved."

Work is WETLAB - Western Environmental Testing LABoratory in Sparks.

"An environmental testing laboratory, so we specialize in water testing, soil testing and hazardous waste testing."

Like checking our drinking water for contaminants. As manager of quality assurance at WETLAB, Delaney also ensures young students have the opportunity to understand the importance of this type of work. "Where we're educating children about environmental stewardship, or we invite schools to take a tour here."

Jenn says as a mom to daughters, she's proud to work for a company with so many women in leadership roles. "Those children get to see women in the work force in the scientific field and see themselves represented."

Delaney is also a very active mom of three.

“I'm involved with my kids, too, because I'm a Cub Scout leader, so I also get to see other children, I'm very invested in children."

Jenn's dedication to our youth begins at childbirth. She's a board member of the Northern Nevada Breastfeeding Coalition.

“To promote normalizing breastfeeding and to educate and advocate."

As with everything else, the group's regular fundraisers were canceled due to COVID. Their signature event is called Liquid Gold. "We're hoping 2022 that it'll come back and for that we're generally at UNR, it's a 5k, so it's a fundraiser for our event."

Until then, Delaney will continue her work at WETLAB and...

"Currently my future - just staying within the community and my family."
