A pair of brush fires that broke out near Pyramid Lake Saturday night have been mopped up.
Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District says the two fires sparked due to a spot fire in the area.
Laurence Kaplan, who was camping with his family at Pyramid Lake, tells Channel 2 that he had just seconds to escape the fire.
"My kids came screaming to me, 'Daddy, there's a huge fire coming right at us,'" Kaplan says. "And I look to the north of us, and about 50 to 75 feet, there was a wall of fire coming right at our campsite."
Truckee Meadows says volunteers from Silver Lake responded with a water tender to help. So far, no injuries have been reported.
