The first medical marijuana establishment to open in the state of Nevada is slated to be located in Reno. It's called the Sierra Wellness Connection. SWC successfully passed all local and state inspections and is now prepared to begin growing medical marijuana at its cultivation facility.
Before it can be harvested, the medical marijuana grown in Nevada must be tested in an independent lab to make sure it is safe before it is officially released to cardholders.
“This is an important milestone for our program,” said Chad Westom, Bureau Chief. “There are nearly 9,000 patient cardholders in Nevada who could benefit from medical marijuana for ailments such as cancer, glaucoma, seizures, AIDS and PTSD.”
Although the Sierra Wellness Center is expected to open first, it will not be alone as several medical marijuana establishments are expected to be open in the upcoming months.
