Governor Steve Sisolak has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol and state public buildings and grounds for the entire day on Friday, September 11, 2020 in honor of those that lost their lives on September 11, 2001.

“It is with solemn honor that we lower the flags out of respect for all of those the lost their lives on Patriot Day 19 years ago,” said Gov. Sisolak. “It is also a day to remember all of the courageous first responders that sacrificed so much and ensured that the number of lives lost was not larger.”

Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) issued the following statement:

“Nearly a generation has passed since the horrifying attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001, and yet the memory is still fresh for so many Americans whom history touched on that day. With the rest of the country, I mourn the lives lost in that attack and in the ensuing years, and I send my thoughts to their loved ones. America will never forget the heroism of first responders—or of ordinary citizens who worked together to prevent tragedy and help victims. The anniversary of September 11 is a powerful reminder to us of our capacity to come together in times of loss to comfort, heal, and support one another and this nation.”

Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) issued the following statement:

“Today, we honor the memory of nearly three thousand Americans taken from us during a horrific act of terror against our nation,” said Senator Rosen. “We will never forget the brave souls who were lost on that day, or the incredible courage of the first-responders who selflessly ran toward danger and destruction to save lives. Out of that dark day, our country came together, united in strength, resolve, and resilience. We honor the victims today, and remember the heroism of the service members, first responders, and citizens who sacrificed their lives. Their memory lives on.”
