The Food Bank of Northern Nevada announced that beginning on Monday, they will be operating “pop-up” volunteer sessions at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center in order to prepare emergency food boxes for distribution. The organization said that the location change for volunteers allows them to pack the boxes necessary for distribution while keeping social distance measures in place for the volunteers.
The Reno-Sparks Convention Center facility is large enough to have the volunteers spread out while working.
During the week of April 6, there will be two sessions per day at 9 a.m. and at 1:30 p.m. from Monday, April 6 and Thursday, April 9. Volunteers must sign up ahead of time so that the Food Bank can keep the numbers to a safe level. Volunteers who are interested in this opportunity can sign up on the Food Bank of Northern Nevada website by clicking here: Volunteer opportunities.
If they have not volunteered before at the Food Bank of Northern Nevada, they can complete a volunteer application by clicking here: Volunteer Application.
The Food Bank of Northern Nevada is asking volunteers to wear gloves when handling food and to keep a distance of at least six feet between all others at the distribution.
