Burners headed for the playa will be coming from all around the world…but here's how they get to the festival, once you're in the Silver State.
If you’re coming from Reno or further west, they'll have two possible routes--
The first is taking I-80 eastbound to Pyramid Highway, or 445, and head north. Take that all the way up to Pyramid Lake, where you will make a right onto eastbound Highway 446, or Sutcliffe Highway then you make a left onto northbound Highway 447 until you pass Gerlach.
At that point, make a slight right at the junction onto Highway 34 northbound and then it’s just a short, or long depending on the line, to gate road and the entrance to Black Rock City.
The other possible route from Reno--
I-80 eastbound all the way to Wadsworth, then get off on Main Street, or 427 heading north and continue onto 447 northbound and follow the same prior route.
If you’re coming from east of Wadsworth like Fallon or even Las Vegas:
You still want to get off at Wadsworth on the East Main Street exit, and continue on to Highway 447 taking the same route after.
It is important to remind drivers that even though it looks like a viable route, do not take Pyramid Highway to Surprise Valley Road, the route is not paved, extremely rocky and dangerous, not to mention little to no cell phone reception.
Also, keep in mind that many of the areas on the route to BRC are 25 mile per hour zones, especially through Nixon.
