Fire officials are reminding everyone how to use a fire extinguisher the right way during Fire Prevention Month.
"You should have an ABC extinguisher, dry chemical extinguisher, they're good for three types of fires. Ordinary combustibles, flammable gases and electrical fires." Says Brett Lee, Fire Prevention Specialist, Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue.
Officials recommend keeping an extinguisher in the kitchen and the garage, uncovered and easily accessible.
"When using the fire extinguisher think of the word PASS. P stands for pulling the pin, A is for aiming the nozzle, S is to squeeze the lever, and the final S is to sweep the nozzle back and forth as you're discharging." Says Lee.
