Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District (TMFPD) crews say one mobile home is destroyed after a brush fire broke out near Mockingbird Drive off of Cold Springs Drive north of Reno. They also say four sheds were destroyed.Â
The 2.2 acre Cold Springs Fire started at approximately 1:15 p.m. on Wednesday.Â
TMFPD says several cars were also destroyed.Â
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
TMFPD says all residents in the area of the fire are accounted for and the Northern Nevada Red Cross is helping them.Â
They said there were no reported injuries.Â
In response, Kimmie Candy has set up a GoFundMe page for employee Larry Persons and his mother. The candy company says he was at work when the fire happened. Kimmie Candy says two dogs also died in the fire.Â
Kimmie Candy says they will also offer anyone who goes to their factory store three tubes of candy for donations of $10 or more for Larry and his mother.
The company says Larry is a longtime Reno resident and has been active volunteer for the Reno Rodeo and Earth Day.Â
