Kyburz Fire 98% Contained; Full Containment Expected Wednesday

The Kyburz Fire near Highway 50 in El Dorado County, California is now 98% contained with full containment expected on Wednesday. 

The 75-acre wildfire started last Thursday afternoon near the South Fork of the American River Canyon, west of the community of Kyburz, and east of Whitehall.

The Forest Service says the lower acreage is due to an infrared flight. 

The Forest Service says Sand Flat Campground is open, after being temporarily closed due to the fire. 

All roads located near the fire, including Highway 50, have also reopened. Fire restrictions are in effect in the Eldorado National Forest.

More than 200 personnel are currently assigned to the fire. The Forest Service says three injuries have been reported - all knee injuries. 

The fire remains under investigation.Â
