From the Nevada Department of Transportation:Â
Â
Through spring, lanes will periodically be reduced on Interstate 80 in the Verdi area as part of a Nevada Department of Transportation project to enhance interstate bridges.Â
Single lane closures will take place, weather permitting, between 7 am and 3:30 pm weekdays through Jan. 29 on eastbound I-80 in the east Verdi area. Interstate traffic will still be able to travel through the area, with minor travel delays anticipated. Additional single lane closures will also take place periodically through spring.Â
The lane closures are part of an NDOT project to renovate the surface concrete on bridge supports of Verdi-area interstate bridges for increased longevity. The bridges are in fair condition, but are being renovated as part of NDOT’s continuing efforts to retrofit older bridges for enhanced longevity and durability. In 2014, Nevada bridges were ranked as the nation’s best.
The bridge improvements are part of an approximately $2.5 million project by Granite Construction scheduled to complete in late spring. Improvements to help prevent scour of bridge supports during flood events will also take place in the future. Further project details are available at www.nevadadot.com or by dialing (775) 888-7000.
