A Sparks man now faces a felony charge of DUI causing death in connection with a crash on Howard and Camino Real Drives early Saturday morning.
Officials responded to the crash on January 16th around 12:20 a.m.
Sparks Police say Michael Perry, a Sparks resident, was speeding southbound on Howard approaching Camino Real when he drifted out of the lane and hit two parked cars. The vehicles had people inside.
Police say Perry then left his car and ran away without helping the people inside the vehicles. Police later found and arrested him.
At the scene, Sparks Police, Sparks Fire and REMSA found a man inside one of the cars and a woman in the other.
REMSA crews attempted life saving measures on the man, but he died on scene. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.
REMSA took the woman to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) took over the investigation which remains active.
Speed and alcohol appear to be factors in this crash.
