Southern Washoe County in western Nevada... * Until 400 PM PDT. * At 307 PM PDT, a strong thunderstorm outflow was located 7 miles southeast of Virginia Peak, or 22 miles northwest of Lahontan Reservoir, moving northwest at 35 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, fencing and trees. Strong wind gusts expected to impact boaters along Pyramid Lake near Sutcliffe within the next 30 to 45 minutes. * Locations impacted include... Pyramid Lake, Nixon, Sutcliffe, Virginia Peak, The Needle Rocks, and Tohakum Peak. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. Wind damage with this storm will occur before any rain or lightning. Do not wait for the sound of thunder before taking cover. SEEK SHELTER IMMEDIATELY inside a sturdy structure and stay away from windows.
