Officials with the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority (RSCVA) says the National Bowling Stadium is celebrating its 25th anniversary on Wednesday.

They said in conjunction with the City of Reno and ASM Global, a $4.5 million renovation was unveiled on Wednesday.

“The National Bowling Stadium is responsible for generating nearly 2 million room nights for this destination, over the past 25 years,” said RSCVA President and CEO Phil DeLone. “Through the dedication of the City of Reno, and also through our great partnership with USBC, the National Bowling Stadium has been a consistent economic engine for greater Reno Tahoe, and the RSCVA is proud to be a part of that overall success.”

Officials said changes to the National Bowling Stadium include removal of stadium seating on the fourth floor, behind the 78 championship lanes where most of the competition is held. They said this allowed the settee area to be moved back 12 feet from the ball return and approach areas, giving bowler necessary room for equipment, accessibility and comfort. In addition, officials said new paint, carpeting, furniture and ball racks are now in place and the fourth floor now has an open floor plan for larger corporate events, vendor exhibits and recreational functions.

Officials said energy-efficient LED lighting was installed, along with a new air conditioning system for the south atrium as well. They said new restrooms were constructed and a family bathroom was added to the fourth floor.
