NDOT Seeks Input on I-580 South Reno Interchange Landscape, Aesthetics

The Nevada Department of Transportation says there will be overnight lane closures on Interstate 80 near Sparks Boulevard as they install roadway sensors to gather data on road usage.

NDOT says the single lane closures will be on I-80 between McCarran Boulevard and Sparks Boulevard from Sunday, July 30 through Friday, August 4. On I-80 , one lane will be closed between 6:30 pm and 5 am going westbound and between 9 pm and 5 am going eastbound.

NDOT says drivers can expect minor travel delays and they want to remind everyone to follow the reduced speed limits through the work zone.

The project will embed weigh-in-motion sensors into the interstate to automatically gather anonymous data on vehicle types and weights where the data is used by NDOT to construct appropriate, long-lasting pavements for the average type and weight of vehicles on the road.

Similar lane closures will happen this fall for a second phase of construction. For more information on state road projects, visit nevadadot.com or call (775) 888-7000.Â
