The divine details in the paintings, the colors of the time, and the ornate frames all add to the powerful exhibit opening at the Nevada Museum of Art this weekend in Reno.

The show is called Italian Baroque.

"It is the largest collection of 17th Century Masters outside of Florence," says collector Sir Mark Fehrs Haukohl who was knighted in 2007 by the Italian government for his work in preserving the artwork.

Not only does he love the artwork he's collected, he speaks of it almost like a parent boasting about children. And he knows a lot about each one. From the types of paint used, to the content of the pictures to the details of the magnificent frames, they are all part of the education that's been brought to Northern Nevada.

He's traveled the world to grow the collection over the past 30 years.

While it's just a sampling of the entire collection it is a powerful one. It will open with an art historian's talk about the artwork Saturday at 11am. The exhibit will be on display through July 6th at museum, located at 160 West Liberty Street in downtown Reno.
