Nevada State Treasurer to Hold Payday Loan Public Meeting

Nevada State Treasurer Dan Schwartz is holding a payday loan public meeting on Wednesday August 10th at 9:00 AM.

There will be two meetings, one in Las Vegas and one in Carson City.

“We’ve held two summits this summer, one for consumer protection groups in Nevada, as well as payday lending providers,” Treasurer Schwartz said. “This is the now the time for the public to come forward to provide their input on the addition, and/or amendments pertaining to Chapter 604A- Deferred Deposit Loans, High-Interest Loans, Title Loans and Check Cashing Services. Persons wishing to comment upon any changes they would like to be considered, and possibly carried forth in a Bill Draft Request as part of the 2017 Legislative Session (i.e., 79th Session), or share personal experiences in regards to payday lending please attend the meeting.”

The meeting will address the implementation of a statewide loan database, ‘cool off periods’ between loans, maximum number and/or amount of loans, interest rate cap, or ‘ability to repay’ provisions.
