Two best friends and their grandkids attempted to break a Hot Wheels distance world record in 2021 out of Susanville.

They were unsuccessful due to weather.

They kept at it and what started as an attempt to break a world record turned into something much greater.

In September of 2023, they were able to break the record for most loop-the-loops with 28.

After the group got their official world record certificates, they knew that they wanted to do something more, they just didn't know what that was.

Until Trevitt's grandson, Mason, said that he wanted to share it with other children that are in need.

"I felt like I wanted to give back to the community," says Mason Gonzales.

That's how the non-profit, Hope Wheels, started.

"What we do now is we work with children's hospitals. We work directly with the Ronald Mcdonald charities, and we take our love for hot wheels and all our hot wheels track and hot wheels, we set it up for special needs children and children in need anywhere we can find," says Tim Trevitt, a Co-Founder of Hope Wheels.

The Reno Aces held a fundraiser for the non-profit, giving them half the proceeds of every ticket that Hope Wheels sells.Â
