This December the sounds of Artown will move from the summer's outdoor venue to indoor theaters at two local casinos, just in time for the holiday season.

Beth Macmillan, Artown's Executive Director said "I think what we have realized, that instead of a gift an experience with friends is more valuable as a gift rather than a physical items. And so people are really cherishing gathering together because we haven't really been able to gather in over a year."

On December 9, Pink Martina and China Forbes will take the stage at the Grand Sierra Resort. There will be something for Bluegrass fans too. The Silver Legacy will have Bela Fleck and several other musicians on December 11. It'll be Artown's last hurrah for 2021, but performers will kick of its encore series, with more to come in March of 2022. Martha Graham Dance Company will be putting on a show at the Pioneer Center on March 8, 2022.

"Different bands and musical ensembles aren't available during July. So for us to be able to bring them at other times of the year when they are touring, it's become essential for us to have this encore series and it's just so exciting and they're artists that wouldn't otherwise come to Reno." said Macmillan.

Because the concerts are indoors COVID-19 protocol will be followed. Everyone will be required to wear a mask. Attendees of the Bela Fleck performance must have proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test result before they're allowed to enter the venue. Macmillan is advising people to have the required documents ready in-hand.
