One man is dead after getting his car caught in floodwaters in Sonoma County earlier today.

At around 11:30 a.m., a concerned traveler called in to report a car in the floodwaters near Mays Canyon Road in Sonoma County, California.

The caller said they thought there was at least one person inside the car.

Deputies from the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office reported to the scene, as well as patrol deputies, Sheriff's Office Marine Unit deputies, and crews from  both Sonoma County and Monte Rio Fire.

Crews were able to recover the man from the car, but despite the work of first responders he was pronounced dead at the scene.
