The Inyo County Sheriff’s Office has recovered a body from Mt. Whitney.

The sheriff’s office says it received a report of the body last month but due to the remote location and multiple storms, extensive planning had to be coordinated over several weeks.

The body, which still remains officially unidentified, was recovered this week with the help of air and ground resources.

The county coroner will now identify the remains.

“The Inyo County Sheriff’s Office is aware that the public knows of the reported missing person in the area. Still, we caution anyone from making conclusions until positive identification is made,” the sheriff’s office says in a Facebook post.

CBS LA previously reported that 21-year-old Joseph Brambila went missing in November while hiking Mt. Whitney.
