Update (6/8/2025, 6:34 p.m.):

California Highway Patrol (CHP) has confirmed that the 13-year-old girl that was involved in the e-bike crash on Saturday morning has passed away.

Sergeant Moorman with CHP says that the girl was confirmed deceased at around 3:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon, per the Washoe County Coroner's Office.

Superintendent Todd Cutler sent out communication this morning on behalf of the Lake Tahoe Unified School District sharing the news of the passing of their student, and offering counseling services today.

The girl's family has requested that anyone wanting to leave flowers or notes in the girl's memory place them on the bridge at Tahoe Paradise Park.

Original Story (6/7/2025, 4:45 p.m.):

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) has released information about a crash Saturday morning in South Lake Tahoe.

According to the report, around 7:50 a.m. a 13-year old girl was riding her e-bike at the intersection of Lake Tahoe Boulevard and Sawmill Road.

As the bike rider was crossing Lake Tahoe Blvd, a driver in an Acura MDX was traveling east on Lake Tahoe Blvd and crashed into the bicyclist.

Officials say that upon impact the girl was ejected from the bike and hit a snow-paddle-marker.

The bicyclist sustained several life threatening injuries and has been transported to Barton Memorial Hospital.

The crash is still under investigation - CHP is asking any potential witnesses who were not interviewed on scene to call Officer Renk at the California Highway Patrol, South Lake Tahoe Area office at (530) 539-9500.
