The Mineral County Sheriff's Office arrested three people following a high-speed chase spanning two states, reaching speeds exceeding 140 miles per hour.

It began when MCSO was alerted to a stolen Silver 2015 Mercedes four-door with Oregon plates (730PQQ) near Hawthorne, Nevada around noon.

When officers arrived and tried to box the vehicle in, the suspect drove off, leading police through Mineral and Mono Counties. After an unsuccessful attempt of using spike strips, the driver lost control of the vehicle on Goat Ranch Road, and it rolled onto its roof.

The three occupants got out of the vehicle and began running away but they were quickly stopped and taken into custody.

Both CHP and the Mono County Sheriff's Office assisted.

The sheriff's office identified the three suspects as Kevin Lerus, Israel Loyal, and Cheyenne Cottle (all from Nevada).

All three were booked into the Mono County Jail for charges in both California and Nevada, including possession of a stolen vehicle, felony eluding, and battery on a peace officer.
