Authorities have released the name of the suspect after a stabbing at the CARES Campus in Reno on Tuesday. 

The Washoe County Sheriff's Office says 33-year-old Jaivon Simmons, initially threatened a staff member at the campus with a knife. Shortly thereafter, Simmons allegedly stabbed a victim outside the entrance to the Nevada Cares Campus Resource Center.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

Simmons was booked into the Washoe County Jail on felony charges of Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Battery with a Deadly Weapon

One person is recovering in the hospital after being stabbed at the CARES Campus in Reno.

Deputies with the Washoe County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon at the Nevada Cares Campus Resource Center, near Line Drive and Fourth Street around 1 p.m. on Tuesday.

Reno Fire helped REMSA transport the unidentified victim to the hospital.

One person has been detained in connection with the alleged stabbing.

The Washoe County Sheriff's Office is leading the investigation.

They say there's no threat to the public.
