In observance of Independence Day, several government offices, city services, and local agencies in the Reno-Sparks area will be closed on Friday, July 3.
Public services will resume regular operations on Monday, July 6.
Local residents are advised to plan ahead and take note of the following closures and service changes.
City of Reno:
Administrative offices will be closed on Friday, July 3.
Reno Police Department (RPD):
For emergencies (police, fire, or medical), dial 9-1-1.
For non-emergency assistance, call 775-334-COPS or visit RenoPD.com for online reports.
Reno Fire Department (RFD):
Fireworks are illegal and unsafe in Reno and Washoe County.
All City of Reno Recreation facilities and Pools (with the exception of Moana Springs, Traner, and Idlewild Pools on July 3 and Idlewild and Traner Pools on July 4 - they will be open during their regularly scheduled hours)
City of Sparks:
Administrative offices will be closed on Friday, July 3.

Most Washoe County offices will be closed on Friday, July 3, including:
Washoe County Complex administrative offices: 1001 E. Ninth Street, Reno
All Washoe County Libraries (book drops and online services available) Access library hours and online services at www.washoecountylibrary.us.
Regional Animal Services Shelter (field operations continue) Pet redemptions will be available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Justice Courts (Reno, Sparks, Incline Village, Wadsworth)
Washoe County District Attorney’s Office
Washoe County Sheriff's Office (all administrative offices) Visiting and cashier remains open, and if citizens need emergency assistance, please call 911 or contact the non-emergency line at (775) 785-WCSO (9276).
Truckee Meadows Fire & Rescue Headquarters:Â 3663 Barron Way
Washoe County Human Services Agency (including all meal distribution locations)
Open:
Washoe County Clerk's Office (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.for fictitious firm names, notary bond filings, and marriage license - passport services will not be available)
Reminder: Fireworks are prohibited, and residents are encouraged to secure pets during fireworks displays.
Regional Transportation Commission (RTC):
RIDE and FlexRIDE will operate on a Sunday schedule on Friday, July 3.
RTC Regional Connector will not operate.
RTC Customer Service and administrative offices will be closed.
Free transit on RAPID Lincoln Line (4 p.m. to midnight) and Route 11 (4 p.m. to midnight) for those attending Star Spangled Sparks.
Free Access Rides to and from Centennial Plaza: 1421 Victorian Avenue in Sparks (4 p.m. to midnight) for those attending Star Spangled SparksÂ
Other Closures:
North Tahoe Fire Protection District: Business office closed.
Churchill County School District: Closed on July 3, with services resuming on Monday, July 6. Food services will be unavailable.
U.S. Postal Service: No retail services or mail delivery on July 4, but service as usual on July 3. Regular service resumes on July 6, 2026.
