Palisades Tahoe has introduced Binny, short for Bintag and named after a famous Indonesian surf break, as the newest member of its Avalanche Rescue Dog team.

Binny and his handler, Johnathan, made their debut today, on National Dog Day.

The initial training will focus on socialization and exposure to new experiences, including chairlifts, moving equipment, and the mountain environment. Binny is expected to achieve full mission-ready certification in about two years.

Guests may see Binny and Johnathan on the mountain during training. While Binny is approachable in appearance, Palisades Tahoe asks visitors to give the team plenty of space, especially around skis and snowboards, and to always ask before approaching or interacting with the dog.
