On Saturday, March 16 the City of Reno invited the community to celebrate the completion of the first phase in its multi-million dollar project to improve the Reno Tennis Center.
The Reno Tennis Center has 12 tennis hardcourts and 14 pickleball courts.
Residents were able to try out the renovated tennis courts and two brand new pickleball courts by playing free organized games.
There was also a pickleball class for beginners, food trucks and refreshments for everyone.
Over the last several years, the City has been expanding offerings for pickleball at its facilities. In 2023, Council allocated $2.3 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to Reno Tennis Center for repairs and upgrades to tennis and pickleball courts.
Although most of the improvements were completed in the fall, this spring is the first opportunity for players to try out the new courts.
Phase 2 will include foundation work for other courts and possible court resurfacing and fence repairs.
The City recommends players call the facility for the schedule as availability varies. You can register for tennis and pickleball programs at the Reno Tennis Center by clicking the link here.
