The Postal Service says that having the mail processed in Sacramento, it will save them up to $4 million in its first year.
The decision was made possible due to the identification of enhanced efficiencies in proposed operational improvements.
The bill also would allow the public to appeal proposed USPS closures, consolidations, and downsizing.
