Update (7/5/2025, 3:45 p.m):

According to the Carson City Fire Department (CCFD), evacuation precautions have been lifted for residents near C Hill in Carson City.

The precautions were put in place last night after the fire broke out on the back of C Hill, and made its way over the top and to the front.

CCFD says that they are actively working with other agencies to contain the fire.

The temporary evacuation site that had been set up at Fuji Park has been closed, as well as the Carson City Emergency Operations Center.

Officials ask that people avoid the area to allow crews to manage the fire.

Original Story (7/5/2025, 12:11 a.m.):

Multiple agencies are responding to a brush fire in Carson City that broke out late Friday night, prompting precautionary evacuation notices in the area.

The fire is burning on C Hill, according to Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong, and has crossed from the back of C Hill to the front.

Residents living along the base of C Hill, on Terrace Street, and Crain Street have received precautionary evacuation notices and should be prepared to evacuate if evacuation orders are issued, said Sheriff Furlong.

An evacuation map can be found at this website.

No evacuation center has yet been established.

The sheriff said the fire is burning in steep terrain and that fighting it is challenging at night. He also said it appears to be calming down.

Nobody has been injured in the fire, and it has not yet affected any buildings.

The Carson City Fire Department, Carson City Sheriff's Office, Nevada Division of Forestry, and Nevada Highway Patrol are all responding to the blaze, in addition to other agencies.

We have a crew heading to the scene to gather more details, and we will bring them to you as they become available.
