Ford has issued a recall for F-150 pickups from 2014.
According to documents sent to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the recall is due to transmission unexpectedly downshifting to first gear.
This can cause drivers to lose control of the trucks.
The documents also say the problem is caused by a lost signal between a transmission speed sensor and the powertrain control computer, as well as possible corrosion and problems with connector pins.
Folks with affected trucks can get the powertrain control software updated at no cost at a dealership.
NHTSA began its investigation in March after getting complaints about the issue.Â
Ford said in documents that it has 396 warranty and field reports and 124 customer complaints about the problem, coving 482 trucks.
The company has also received two complaints involving injuries and one reported crash that may have been caused by the problem.
