UPDATE - APRIL 8, 2025:
A former Hug High School special education teacher who pleaded no contest as part of a plea deal with the state for one count of soliciting a child for prostitution will now spend up to 48 months in prison.
Ryley Coker, pleaded no contest as part of a plea deal, with the state, who in the plea said they would be arguing for jail time of up to 120 days.
During Coker's sentencing the judge declined to accept the plea deal, and imposed a sentence of 16-48 months in prison minus a credit of 118 days for time already served.

The sentencing of a former special education teacher in the Washoe County School District who was accused of child sex crimes is scheduled for Tuesday.
Ryley Coker a former Hug High School teacher may be placed on probation after entering a no-contest plea to one count of soliciting a child for prostitution.
According to court documents, the state claims that it will uphold a written plea agreement it made with Coker in this case.
The State says while it does not object to probation, it will argue for a 120-day jail sentence (straight time) as a special condition of the probation, if it is granted.
ORIGINAL STORY - December 19, 2023:
The suspended Hug High School teacher accused of soliciting a student for prostitution has posted bail.
Earlier this month, a judge lowered Ryley Coker's bail from $1 million to $100,000.
His conditions of release include house arrest with GPS monitoring, no contact with children or the victim or the victim’s family, and no electronic devices without the court’s permission.
Coker is accused of offering a 16-year-old student money in exchange for sex.
Since he's been released from the sheriff's custody, Coker is required to remain under house arrest with GPS monitoring.
He is not allowed to contact children or use electronic devices.
The sex crime charges that Coker faces are a category D felony. If he is found guilty, his maximum sentence would be four years in prison.
NOVEMBER 28, 2023
According to the Washoe County District Attorney's Office, a Washoe County School District (WCSD) teacher accused of trying to solicit sex from a student, was expected to plead not guilty to all charges on Tuesday.
However, the accused Ryley Coker's arraignment has been delayed due to his attorney challenging his $1 million bail.
The victim will be heard at the next hearing before a bail adjustment is discussed. A trial date and a plea is also expected to be set at the hearing.
The next hearing is set for December 7.
OCTOBER 31, 2023:
A judge found probable cause to bind Ryley Coker's case to a district court and also set a trial date.
Coker is accused of offering a 16-year-old student money in exchange for sex.
Police are investigating if he may have had similar conversations with other students.
His arraignment is now set for next month.
OCTOBER 11, 2023:
A Hug High School teacher accused of soliciting a child for prostitution is expected to appear in a Reno court Wednesday afternoon.
According to court documents, Ryley Coker is accused of offering a student money in exchange for sex. Police say they are investigating whether he had similar conversations with other students.
Coker has been with the school district since 2014 - and has been suspended without pay.
New information also shows that Coker's roommate, Logan Keyes, is accused of child pornography possession.

Washoe County School District teacher Ryley Coker offered a 16-year-boy $500 in exchange for sexual favors, according to WCSD Police Department documents filed with the Reno Justice Court.
Coker was arrested Thursday, and the district has suspended him without pay as he faces pending charges of solicitation of a child for prostitution and abuse of a child involving sexual exploitation.
WCSD PD say the student, a 16-year-old boy, approached Coker in hopes of improving his grade, and Coker gave the student his personal cell phone number.
Court documents outline an explicit text exchange, in which Coker both implied and explicitly asked the student for sex, in messages such as “If we were alone… It’d be better,” and “You just want someone to give you the $ Or lay back and let someone pay you for sexual favors?”
Police say they are investigating whether Coker has had similar conversations with other students, based on text messages found in Coker’s cell phone.
According to the district, Coker has been a teacher for WCSD since July 2014. Most recently, he taught special education math at Hug High School.
