A man was sentenced to 90 years in prison after pleading guilty to several child sex-related charges.

The Washoe County District Attorney's Office says Logan Keyes pleaded guilty to six counts of Prepare, Advertise, or Distribute Material Depicting Pornography Involving a Minor.

The DA's office says the case against Keyes began back in December of 2022, following an operation by the Human Exploitation and Trafficking (HEAT) unit after he initiated an online conversation. Keyes allegedly told the undercover detective he was interested in a sexual encounter with a child.

Before Keyes and the undercover detective were set to meet up, authorities say a media report was released regarding similar sting operations, and the defendant blocked the account.

In September of 2023, authorities say Keyes’ roommate Ryley Coker, was arrested following sexual misconduct with one of his students. Prosecutors say an investigation into both men led to Keyes admitting that he had child pornography on his phone, that the victims were between infancy and 10 years old, and that he routinely traded the child porn with others. They say additional searches of Keyes’ devices uncovered more than 400 images and videos constituting child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

Keyes was sentenced to 6-15 years for each count, equating to the 36-90 years. He will be eligible for parole after serving 36 years. The DA's office says Keyes had asked for probation, arguing that he did not ever sexually assault any victims, and was not a danger to the community.

Meanwhile, Coker was released on bail and at first pleaded not guilty, but changed his plea to no contest earlier this month. He's scheduled to be sentenced in April.

He was a teacher at Hug High School but has been suspended without pay.

SEPTEMBER 2023:

Detectives with the Human Exploitation and Trafficking (HEAT) unit began an investigation into a man named Logan Keyes after he initiated an online conversation with a HEAT detective.

During the conversation, Keyes became increasingly sexually explicit and made several statements regarding being sexually interested in children.

Keyes ultimately indicated his intention to have a sexual encounter with a three-year-old child.

Through the investigation, detectives found 400 videos of child pornography displaying children 13-years-old and younger.

It was determined that Keyes had distributed the videos and images to numerous individuals online.

Keyes was arrested on Thursday by the Regional HEAT Unit partnered with the Regional Sex Offender Notification Unit and Washoe County School District Police Department on several charges stemming from the child exploitation investigation.

His charges are Possession of Child Pornography and 21 counts of Distributing Child Pornography.

This is an ongoing investigation and police are asking anyone with additional information to contact HEAT at 775-325-6470.
