A juvenile has been booked into the Jan Evans Juvenile Justice Center after accidentally firing a gun, sending a man to the ICU.
It happened on Friday, April 19th just after 9:30 p.m. on Avenue of the Oaks in Sparks according to a release from the Sparks Police Department.
The victim was identified as Eric Duval. Investigators determined that Duval was in a common area bathroom with two other people when an accidental shooting happened, sending Duval to the ICU with substantial injury to the lower half of his face.
The release says both people in the bathroom with Duval were known to him.
A review of surveillance video, a search warrant for evidence, witness statements and suspect interviews determined the shooting was accidental.
The suspect that fired the handgun was a juvenile and his name is being withheld. They were booked on charges including disregard for the safety of a person with substantial bodily harm and aiming a firearm at a person.
