The Nevada State Police Highway Patrol says 62-year-old Susan Mae Goodenow of Reno was killed in a crash involving two bicyclists and a car on U.S. 395 Alternate near Pagni Lane the morning of October 4.
Troopers say the crash happened around 9:02 a.m. near mile marker 11.
A preliminary investigation indicates a 1995 Subaru Legacy was traveling north on U.S. 395 Alternate when the driver failed to maintain the travel lane, crossing into the southbound lanes and the designated bicycle lane.
Investigators say the driver then steered right, causing the car to rotate clockwise before hitting both bicyclists.
One bicyclist was ejected from their bicycle. The Subaru continued north, crossing back into the northbound lanes before coming to rest on its wheels.
Goodenow was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel. The second bicyclist was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver stayed on scene.
The Nevada Highway Patrol Northern Command Major Incident Reconstruction Team is continuing to investigate the crash.Â
