People making payments to the City of Reno using a debit or credit card will now be paying just a bit more.
Back in April 2025, the Reno City Council approved a 2.7% increase for people who make payments to the City of Reno.
This affects any bill that comes directly from the City of Reno.
The 2.7% fee is considered a merchant fee that's collected by Wells Fargo. For some time, the city was covering those fees using money from the city's general fund, building enterprise fund and the sewer fund.
The city believes that passing on these fees to the public will save the city over $1 million.
