3/1/26 Update

The Carson City Sheriff's Office has released new details about two bodies found in a Carson City Home.

According to Sheriff Ken Furlong, deputies were called to the home on Merrill Road to conduct a welfare check after the women, a mother and daughter, had not been heard from in two weeks.

The 89-year-old mother and her 60-year-old daughter both lived in the home and were found in an advanced state of decomposition.

The body of the mother did not show any noticeable trauma, but the daughter is believed to have died from a gunshot wound.  A weapon was found near the body.

Both women have been taken to the Washoe County Medical Examiner's Officer for autopsies.

The Sheriff's Office does not believe there is any threat to the public. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Carson City Sheriff’s Office at 775-887-2677 (COPS)
