Catholic Charities - Elevating Families

As Elevated Families, an innovative program that helps empower families with children economically through mobile mentoring, reaches its tenth month of success it announces that it is accepting new applicants.

The program originally introduced in October of 2023, by Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada, has been successful for a wide range of participants who come from a variety of challenging backgrounds ranging from nearly homeless, dealing with domestic violence, or balancing multiple jobs.

The program helps to provide parents essential problem-solving skills in five essential areas: family stability, well-being, education and training, financial management, and employment and career management on their path to success, which they once thought was out of reach.

Catholic Charities says the program pairs parents with mentors who work closely with them in setting goals and identifying strategies to overcome the obstacles that have held them back from success in the past.

They say that several people have experienced success with the program and feel confident in the path they are taking.

Catholic Charities says now that school is back in session it is the perfect time for applicants that meet the minimum qualifications to apply.

The program says that qualified adult applicants must be residents of Washoe County, under the age of 55 with at least one child who is 13 years of age or younger.

Applicants can be married or single.

If you are interested the program encourages you to visit their website and learn more and start a one-time application process.

The program is open to 300 English and Spanish-speaking families.
