Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada (CCNN), along with Washoe County, has announced that it will be expanding its responsibilities at the Cares Campus.
Starting on August 4, CCNN will be shifting its volunteer-supported lunch program to serve guests of the Cares Campus directly.
This builds upon CCNN's existing role of supervising volunteers for the nightly dinner service.
"With the opening of the new dining facility, we are now able to serve cafeteria-style meals for both lunch and dinner directly to the residents seven days a week, 365 days a year," says Marie Baxter, CEO of Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada. "It’s been a long journey, but we are very happy to be pivoting away from handing out meals in containers to being able to personally serve those in need. It’s a very uplifting experience for the residents and the volunteers."
With the new change, CCNN is looking for volunteers for both the lunch and dinner services at the Cares Campus, which provides meals 365 days a year for people in need.
The volunteer opportunity is available to individuals, businesses or groups.
