CHP - South Lake Tahoe is describing their work as January 11 is Human Trafficking Awareness Day.
Troopers say routine stops and investigations are conducted to identify possible victims in cases by discovering indicators of criminal activity and rescuing them.
Specialized units allow various task forces work with allied agencies in capturing criminals.
According to CHP, when victims are identified, troopers work with advocate groups and social services to provide assistance and resources.
