Locals came together on Sunday to take part in the Green Vibe Goat Festival which is centered around environmental stewardship.

Green Vibe World partnered with the Truckee River Flood Management Authority and Ferrari Farms to bring awareness to pollution in and around the Truckee River and to bring goats on the property to help deal with an invasive plant called White Tops.

The event took place along the Truckee River near Rock and Mccarran Boulevard and everybody was welcome.

Equipment was provided so volunteers could pick up trash, and after that, there was baby goat yoga, games, food, and education about the environment and the role the Truckee River plays in our area.

Some people came for the first time today, and others have been volunteering with Green Vibe World for years, as they feel events like these can have a big impact.

"It's important for everybody to take part in these kinds of events because we all live on this Earth. We all need to take care of it and when these events happen they are fun and encouraging for the environment and for everyone that participates," said Lauren Mermejo.

Green Vibe World says they are out doing clean ups weekly and they also have a detailed list of future events that the public can take part in.

If you would like to learn how to be a part of it, you can visit Green Vibe World's website and for more information about ongoing projects along the Truckee River, you can visit the Truckee River Flood Management Authority website.
