A crash involving a sedan and a commercial semi-truck shut down I-80 westbound near Patrick Thursday morning, Nevada Highway Patrol troopers said.

The crash occurred around 9:16 a.m. Preliminary investigation indicates the sedan and semi-truck were both traveling westbound when the driver of the sedan may have suffered a medical episode, causing a collision with the semi-truck.

One person was transported by CareFlight, and another was reported as having injuries, though troopers were unsure if that person was transported.

The crash ruptured the semi truck’s fuel tank, causing diesel fuel to leak. Troopers said the road is expected to remain closed until roughly 11-11:15 a.m. while the scene is diagrammed. Crews will remain on site throughout the day to clean up the diesel.

Motorists should expect delays in the area.
