As fire crews make more progress on the Davis Fire, lots of people are checking out of hotels to unpack back at home.

People returning to the Arrowcreek, Thomas Creek, and Montreux neighborhoods are saying they're relieved to be home again. However, some of them say they weren't nervous when the evacuation order was first initiated.

Marsha Marioni, Thomas Creek resident, says, "Pretty much ready to go. We've been through the drill before, so it was like pack what you can and get out."

Arrowcreek resident, Bill, says, "We just watched it until it looked like a threat." When asked if he was nervous when he was first told he needed to leave, he simply responds, "No."

Some people say they stayed at a hotel or with friends or family for the week while they waited on the evacuation status of their homes.

Some neighborhoods are still without power so residents are doing what they can to make themselves comfortable while they wait for the power to turn back on.

Ken Cunningham, Galena Creek resident, says, "Getting some gas to fire up a portable generator to get our freezer up and running. Get some ice to keep other items cool. And just trying to get back to normal and hope this is the end of it."

While many people are settling back in their homes, fire crews encourage residents to not get too comfortable as these neighborhoods are under evacuation warnings which means there's a chance they could be forced to leave again if the fire gets worse.

So make sure you keep those go-bags packed and ready just in case.
