The Douglas County School District is making moves to repair its finances.
On Thursday, the school district board of trustees unanimously declared a fiscal emergency.
That means the school district has a negative ending fund balance and doesn't have enough money to cover its expenses.
The school district will put a new reduction plan into motion because of the decision.
They hope the plan will help the school district reach a net-zero ending fund balance by next year.
