The Douglas County Sheriff's Office has assisted the California Highway Patrol in arresting the suspect in an armed robbery.

27-year old Joseph Baird from Fresno, CA was picked up Friday night after a police chase that started in Walker Canyon, CA and reached speeds of over 100 mph.

Baird crossed the Nevada state line at Topaz Lake in Douglas County, and spike strips were successfully deployed on U.S. 395 near Pine Valley Road.

Douglas County authorities then deployed the Grappler Police Bumper System and were able to stop the vehicle safely.

Initially Baird refused the exit the vehicle, but agreed after a 20-minute negotiation with officers.

Charges filed against Baird include eluding, reckless driving, resisting/obstructing a police officer, speeding, driving with a revoked license and littering.

Douglas County investigators are working with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office to assist in their investigation regarding the armed robbery.
