The Douglas County Sheriff's Office has announced the passing of one of their K9s.

On Sunday, K9 Blaze died at his home, according to a post on Facebook from the DCSO.

He was a Belgian Malinois, German Shepherd cross, and was certified in patrol, narcotics, and tracking.

He came to the DCSO from Slovakia as a puppy in 2021.

During his career with the Sheriff's Office, he was deployed 175 times, assisting in 13 arrests and seizing heroin, cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine, and mushrooms.

"Blaze was a huge part of the DCSO family and an incredible force multiplier. He clearly loved working, and his impact in the community will be hard to replace, and he will be missed,” said Douglas County Sheriff Daniel Coverley.
