A Carson City man faces several charges after authorities say he led deputies on a chase in Virginia City early Wednesday morning.
The Storey County Sheriff's Office says deputies tried to stop a suspected stolen truck at C and Mill Streets just after 12:45 a.m. but the driver took off at speeds estimated around 80 mph.Â
At one point, they say the GMC diesel truck driver took a curve too fast, and went into the opposite lane where the truck hit a cement barrier on Greiners Bend. It then slid along the barrier, crossed the roadway and ultimately hit a rock wall head-on.Â
Deputies say the driver, Michael Menke was taken into custody and checked by paramedics.
Afterwards he was booked into the Storey County Jail where he faces numerous charges including felony evading and possession of stolen vehicle.Â
