The Mammovan, a mobile mammography service that makes it more accessible and convenient for women to get a mammogram, will be making stops in Carson City and Reno next week.
The Atlantis Casino Resort and Spa in support of Breast Cancer Screening Awareness has partnered with Nevada Cancer Coalition to take the pledge to Paint Nevada Pink and will host one of the Mammovan events as well as offer several special resort promotions to its guests for the month-long campaign.
Early screening is a very important tool in the fight against breast cancer.
The Mammovan is scheduled to be in Carson City on Thursday October 3 at the Sierra Nevada Health Center at 3325 Research Way in Carson City from 7:40 a.m. until 3:20 p.m. (closed for lunch from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.)
Then in Reno, on Friday, October 4 the Mammovan will be offering exams outside the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa in the West Parking Lot, at 3800 S. Virginia St. from 07:40 a.m. until 3:20 p.m. (closed for lunch from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.)
The Mammovan accepts most major insurance companies, Medicare, Medicaid, and Women's Health Connection (WHC). Organizers say yearly preventative screenings are usually covered 100% for mammograms, however, verify your coverage before making an appointment. Women not covered by health insurance may qualify for a "no charge" screening.
These screenings are primarily for women age 40 and older; however, screenings will be provided to those younger than 40 who have a physician referral.
Women wanting to take advantage of this service should call 1-877-581-6266 option 1, to make an appointment.
