Veterans Color Run and Resource Fair

Reno High School will host the Northern Nevada Veterans Block Party this Saturday, a free event open to all veterans, service members, their families, caregivers, and community supporters.

The event organized by the Nevada Department of Veterans Services will feature a range of activities and services aimed at honoring the military community and connecting attendees with helpful resources.

A Color Run for Suicide Prevention will begin the day, with registration opening at 7:30 a.m. and the run starting at 8:00 a.m. and ending by 10:00 a.m.

Organizers say the run is meant to “honor the lives we’ve lost and support those still fighting,” with a focus on healing, remembrance, and connection.

Participants are encouraged to “come ready to get covered in color, share stories, and be part of something powerful, because no one should face the darkness alone.”

More than 50 organizations will be on site providing information on educational programs, employment assistance, healthcare, legal advice, and more.

This year’s event includes a particular emphasis on suicide prevention within the veteran community, offering resources and educational materials aimed at promoting mental health and well-being.

The block party will also include live entertainment, games, a free lunch, giveaways, and prizes throughout the day.

Organizers describe the event as “an opportunity to build connections, learn about valuable resources, and support one another in a friendly and engaging environment.”
