NOVEMBER 4, 2025:

Liberty Electric has issued a notice that a Public Safety Power Shutoff, or PSPS, may be implemented for customers in Markleeville, Woodfords, Desolation Hotel (Hope Valley), Topaz, Coleville, and Walker due to extreme weather conditions that increase wildfire risk.

The potential outage is expected to begin on Wednesday, November 5, at approximately 1 a.m., and could last up to 40 hours.

Customers are encouraged to plan accordingly and take precautions.

To assist those affected, Liberty will operate Community Resource Centers from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. throughout the PSPS.

The Woodfords Community Center at 96 Washoe Blvd., Markleeville, and the Walker Community Center at 442 Mule Deer Drive, Walker, will remain open throughout the PSPS.  Customers who are unable to secure alternative power are encouraged to visit these centers.

Residents are encouraged to take steps to stay prepared during a potential PSPS, including assembling an emergency kit with items such as flashlights, first aid supplies, and local maps. Plan for any medical needs that rely on electricity, including medications that require refrigeration or devices that need power, and register energy-related medical needs by calling 1-800-782-2506.

Individuals and families should also store nonperishable food and water to last at least 48 hours.

Liberty said it will provide real-time updates on its website, through email, social media, and its Onsolve alert system.

If the PSPS is implemented, the community resource centers will be open to provide essential resources and allow customers to speak directly with representatives.

Customers can view affected areas and access information in multiple languages on Liberty’s PSPS website.
