Lyon County sex offender arrested after compliance check in Fernley home investigation
On June 7, at about 7:45 a.m., members of the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender Task Force conducted a compliance investigation at a residence on Drayer Lane in Fernley.
The investigation began after the task force received information indicating that 41-year-old Kyle Marcelino Landa was residing at an address different from the one listed in his registration records. Deputies contacted the man, a registered sexual offender, and determined he was out of compliance with Nevada’s sex offender registration requirements.
Further investigation showed the man had moved from his registered address and failed to update his sex offender registration within the required time under Nevada law. Deputies determined he had been living at the Drayer Lane residence for about two weeks without properly updating his registration information.
Landa was taken into custody and booked into the Lyon County Jail on one felony count of Prohibited Acts – Violation of Sex Offender Registration.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender Task Force said it remains committed to ensuring registered sexual offenders in Lyon County comply with state requirements. The task force said deputies proactively investigate reports of noncompliance and take enforcement action to protect the community.
The agency encourages people to report concerns or suspicious activity related to sexual offender compliance by contacting the Sex Offender Task Force at SOTF@lyon-county.org.
