Deputies from the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and firefighters from North Lyon Fire will face off at the table rather than in the streets during a fundraising event tonight.
The event, shared in a Facebook post by the Lyon County Fire Department, is called “Battle of the Badges – Who Will Win?” and runs from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, August 13 at the Black Bear Diner in Fernley.
Attendees can choose to support either Team Fire or Team Sheriff by leaving tips, which will go directly to Brandy Haas, the sister of a North Lyon Firefighter.
Haas has been battling triple-negative breast cancer since 2021.
The post explained, “Deputies and Firefighters will be serving YOU dinner, and every tip you leave goes directly to Brandy to help cover life-saving treatment not covered by insurance.”
The fundraiser is designed to be a friendly competition while raising awareness and financial support for Haas.
The department encouraged the community to participate, noting, “The cause is serious, but the competition is friendly – and the only way to find out who wins is to come eat, tip big, and cheer your team on!”
